Welcome   to Our

La Salette Shrine

Website

We are happy and grateful for your visit to the Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette in scenic Enfield, New Hampshire.  Welcome to a place of prayer and spiritual renewal. There is much that we have to offer to "Recharge Your Battery" ... in a manner of speaking!

We wish to be a Center of Reconciliation, taking our focus from the Apparition of the Mother of God, high up in the Alps of Southern France on September 19, 1846.  She spoke of overcoming our fears, to come closer to her son with the help of the Scriptures and the Sacraments, and especially the celebration of the Mass & Confession.

Throughout the year come vist our shrine, which is located in the Upper Valley of the Connecticut River on the shores of Lake Mascoma.  In winter we have our Festival of Lights, which runs for the entire month of December in preparation for Christmas.  In the spring we offer programs that are an aid to understanding Lent and the Feast of Easter.  In summer, we have several Healing Services which can provide new strengths for our bodies and spirits.  In the fall spread over three days, we celebrate the Feast of our patroness, Our Lady of La Salette on September 19th.

Please explore the many options you can choose from to help make your visit with us more enjoyable.  As pilgrims in search of a deeper bond with God and reconciliation in our relationships with one another, you are most welcomed.  In the words of Our Mother at La Salette, we repeat what she said to the two young shepherds to whom she appeard in her beautiful Apparition ... "Come near, my children, do not be afraid.  I am here to tell you great news!"

We also want to express our gratitude to the Byrne Foundation whose outreach has made it possible for us to build and maintain this website.  In response to their generosity we assure them of our prayerful support in their continued efforts to collaborate and assist the many organizations that they support throughout the Upper Valley.

Please keep Brother Claude in your prayers and close to your heart ... we miss him greatly!

Enfield, N.H. — Brother Claude Rheaume, M.S., 64, a missionary of Our Lady of La Salette, of Enfield, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at the La Salette Shrine and Center residence in Enfield. He was born April 30, 1952 in Berlin, N.H., son of the late Francois and Marcelle (Blais) Rheaume He attended Guardian Angel Grammar School and the La Salette Seminary in New Hampshire for high school. He made his First Profession on Nov. 16, 1974, in Enfield and his Perpetual Profession on Oct. 4, 1980 in Enfield.

Brother Claude led an extremely active life as a Missionary of La Salette. From 1980 until 1991, he served on the Enfield Community Council, as well as being appointed to the Evaluation Board, the Formation Commission, the Committee on the Care of the Sick, Elderly and Retired and also served as a member of the Vocation Team. In 1991, he was elected Provincial Assistant.

Brother Claude was named as the Director of the Enfield Community in 2004 and was the La Salette Liaison for the Enfield La Salette Associates.

His greatest joy and the work he truly loved was caring for the property of the Enfield Shrine.

Brother Claude’s life was a very full and active one. In addition to his involvement as treasurer, he was happy to return to the work that brought him close to nature through his work outside at the Enfield Shrine-mowing, painting, and all the other ongoing upkeep that was needed. Even as his health declined, he could be found on his tractor, caring for the land. He was responsible for the Christmas light display.

His life was a testament of his love for his vocation as a Missionary of La Salette, and all who knew him were the recipients of this love.

He served on the Enfield Fast Squad from 1979-1988, serving as President during that time. He completed the paramedic program at Northeastern University in 1990 and worked for Golden Cross Ambulance Service in Lebanon.
